COMMITTEE ENDORSE ED OAKLEY FOR DALLAS MAYOR Click Here for Actual Press Release
DALLAS, TEXAS - The Dallas Police Association (DPA) and the Dallas Police Officer’s Political
Action Committee (DPOPAC), today announced their endorsement of Ed Oakley to be Dallas’ next Mayor. The DPOPAC interviewed both Oakley and his opponent at length prior to making
the unanimous decision to endorse Oakley.
DPA President and PAC Chairman Glenn M. White made the announcement, citing Oakley’s
knowledge and many years of experience as a member of the Plan Commission and as a Member
of the Dallas City Council, as the reason for the endorsement.
Mr. Oakley is committed to public safety, saying crime was the number one issue facing the
citizens of Dallas. Oakley outlined specific plans for reducing crime, including the hiring of
additional police officers and his recently announced plan to tear down some of Dallas’ worst
crime-ridden, sub-standard and derelict apartments.
The DPA has worked closely with Oakley, the City Council and members of the City Staff to
bolster recruiting and retention efforts by implementing a pay incentive plan as part of the FY
2006 budget. Oakley pledged to continue this plan as Mayor and to work closely with the DPA to
ensure a strong and effective police department.
The DPA and DPOPAC are pleased to endorse Ed Oakley for Mayor and encourage all Dallas
voters to elect Ed Oakley on June 16!
The Dallas Police Association is Dallas’ oldest and largest police employee organization - representing nearly 4,000
active, retired and reserve Dallas police offi cers, since 1959.
